Who we are
W Hart & Son Limited was established in 1836 as a "high class" printer in Saffron Walden, Essex. Through three succeeding generations of Harts the company grew to become a local producer and retailer of books, office supplies, musical instruments and printed stationery. In 1930, Edwin Turnbull, sold his stationery & printing business in London and acquired W Hart & Son Ltd from the surviving members of the Hart family.

The decision was made to keep the name and continue to trade as Harts.
Today, Harts is run by Martin & Andrew, the third generation of Turnbulls to do so. The company is now very different from that which Edwin bought in 1930, however, the company are still printers, stationers & booksellers.
The last 15 years has seen the company grow steadily with the company focussing its efforts on expanding its commercial product & service offering. Harts are now one of the largest commercial stationers in East Anglia, offering high levels of product availability, rapid delivery and consistently high levels of customer service.

Harts continues to succeed in todays office supply marketplace because it has embraced change in a positive and constructive manner. Harts is at the forefront of its industry in the way it has adopted technology to enable it to operate faster & more efficiently than its competitors.
Harts has been recognised for this within the industry by winning in 2001, the British Office Supplies Industry Federation Award for Technology and in 2002 being runner up in the European Industry Awards.
